CONDITIONS FINNISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP – The Erkko Trophy

24-26 August 2018 at Helsinki Golf Club

Categories
The championship will be played in two different categories; Men and Ladies.
The total number of competitors will be limited to 129 players; 90 men and 39 ladies.
The championship also includes a Team competition for national and club teams. A men’s team consist of three and a ladies’ team of two players.

Format
The championship in each category will be played over 54 holes in three consecutive days. After the second day (36 holes), there will be a cut which will limit the number of players to 36 men and 18 ladies. These players are entitled to compete in the third round. Entitled are also players tying the 36th (ladies 18th) place after 36 holes.
In the event of tie for the championship in both categories, the winner will be decided by hole-by-hole playoff (stroke play) between the competitors concerned. Other tied results will be decided by last 36 holes, 18 holes, 9 holes, 6 holes and so on.
The team competition will be played over the first 36 holes. As the team result counts two scores from each round. In the event of tie in men’s competition, the total non-counting score will be decisive. Mathematical method will be used in the ladies´ competition.

Competitors
The championship is open for all amateur players, who are members of a recognised golf club.
Competitors will be selected in following order:

MEN
1. Invites by host club and the federation
2. National spots for hosting country
a. 15 national players by WAGR within 1 – 2400 (at the time of entry dead line)
b. 3 wild cards; hosting club
c. 3 wild cards; hosting country
3. WAGR within 1 – 2400 (at the time of entry dead line)
4. Handicap order, max. 3,4

LADIES
1. Invites by host club and the federation
2. National spots for hosting country
a. 6 national players by WAGR within 1 – 2400 (at the time of entry dead line)
b. 1 wild cards; hosting club
c. 2 wild cards; hosting country
3. WAGR within 1 – 2400 (at the time of entry dead line)
4. Handicap order, max. 5,4
There will be a reserve list, which will be put up in a similar order to categories. The reserve list will be used in case of cancellations.
Entries (international players)
The closing date for entries is Fri 30 June. Entries, by using the attached entry form, must be done by email to following address: finnishamateur@golf.fi.
Other forms of entry will not be accepted.

Notes:
- Late entries will not be accepted.
- If the player does not enter through the national federation, must his/her current handicap be confirmed by the home club by using the official stamp.
- National(=Finnish) players must enter through Golfbox.

Entry fee
The entry fee is 170 euros per player, which must be paid at the registration. There is no additional entry fee for the team competition.

Practice
The competitors are entitled to play one practice round free of charge. The booking of starting times for the practice rounds must be done by following the standard procedure of the hosting club.

Prizes
The winners will be presented with trophies, and the three best players in each category will receive a championship medal. There will also be other prizes in accordance to the amateur rules.

Am-Am
There will be an Am-Am competition on Thursdau 23rd of August. All competitors are kindly asked to prepare themselves for being invited. An early indication will be given to all players selected.
Note: In case of not participating in the Am – Am, the players are strongly advised to book their practice round for Wed 22nd of August.

Rules
The competition will be played according to the Rules of Golf defined by the R&A Rules Limited. The local rules will be given to all players and posted accordingly.
